ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT FOR LITTLE HEATH SCHOOL

This accessibility statement applies to the Little Heath School website.

This website is run by Little Heath School, supported by e4education. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, the website allows users to access a high visibility version which is designed for screen readers and assistive technology.

We have also made the website text as simple as possible to understand, and are committed to making further improvements to the way we describe our information and services.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible is this website?

The website is built on e4education’s latest Content management System and is fully responsive and built in accordance with the WCAG 2.1AA accessibility standards.

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible. For example:

  • some of the colours used do not meet colour contrast requirements
  • most documents do not meet accessibility standards
  • some hyperlinks are only identified by colour
  • there is a limit to how far you can magnify the map on our ‘contact’ page

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Compliance status

Little Heath School is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Use of documents

Various documents are in use on this website, including PDFs and Word documents. These are not all currently accessible.

If documents are required, we are aiming to make these as accessible as possible, including using appropriate heading styles and meeting colour contrast requirements.

Please get in touch if there are any documents that you are not able to access and we will provide the information in a different format.

Links are only identified by colour

At times, only colour is used to differentiate hyperlinks from the rest of the page text. Hyperlink styling will be reviewed and updated during 2022.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

Images do not have a text alternative so people using a screen reader cannot access the information.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

Secondary schools are partially exempt from the accessibility requirements for public sector websites. This exemption does not extend to content that people need in order to use the school’s services (such as a Free School Meal application form if one was in use on the website) and an accessibility statement is still required.

Due to this partial exemption Little Heath School believes it is currently meeting the government’s requirements on accessibility, but the school aims to continue to improve accessibility in the ways that have been referenced earlier in this statement.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 17 January 2022.

The statement will be reviewed regularly (at least annually) to ensure it reflects any updates to the site’s compliance with web accessibility standards.
