Invesco UK - Early Careers
We offer a programme called Investment20/20 for students 18 years and over (i.e. once completing year 13). Investment20/20 are a company we partner with and we bring onboard a number of individuals each year across various areas of the business. They are employed by Invesco for 12 months, being paid an annual salary of £26,500. They work within a department, and alongside this receive various trainings from both Invesco and Investment20/20 themselves throughout the year. The trainings are very generic and predominantly skills based, so could be anything from communication skills, to presentation skills, to building a personal brand, or even an introduction to investing. The programme starts each September, with the students needing to apply in the January/February of their final year (year 13) to then start after their exams are over/summer is finished. It is a one year programme, so there is no guarantees of an extension or making them permanent at the end of it, but we will always try to keep people on where we can – it just depends on the Invesco budgets!
The Investment20/20 roles are targeted at school leavers, so we currently go out to a number of local schools to tell the students about the programme (particularly targeting those students who do not want to go to university). Our timeline is as follows: advertising and accepting applications in the January/February, interviewing through April/May, and then making job offers in June time for a September start date.
It's quite a ‘fixed’ programme in terms of our strict timelines, but it’s a fantastic opportunity for those students who don’t want to go to university. We don’t look at the individuals grades (as they are offered jobs before even completing their A Levels), but we look at the individual themselves and what they have to offer. The roles could be anywhere in the business from Marketing, to Sales, to Investment Risk, to HR, to Investments or Finance – it just depends what particular roles we get approved each year. Medical & Dental Summer Schools Y11 & Y12 Students
Medical Schools Council and Dental Schools Council have opened applications for their 2025 medical and dental summer schools. Funded by NHS England, the free summer schools allow up to 500 year 11 and year 12 students from under-represented backgrounds living in England to understand what it is like to study medicine or dentistry, and how to apply for courses. The content of the summer schools will include:
- A simulated experience of what it is like to study medicine or dentistry (including a range of teaching methods)
- The values and behaviours of medical/dental students and doctors/dentists
- Overview of the range of medical/dental careers available (including other healthcare and non-patient focused options) alongside dedicated sessions that focus on the shortage specialties and other healthcare options
- Confidence and social capital building activities (including meeting academics and university students)
- Opportunities for students to discuss their options and seek advice
- Application and admissions advice and support, including preparation for interviews and admissions tests
- Social activities for the students to build a community and network amongst like-minded people.
