Children's Mental Health Week 7-13 February 2022
LHS students take part in Children's Mental Health Week activities
We held a number of activities during 7 - 13 February to raise awareness of mental health for Children's Mental Health Week.
We put together a video to show students them some top tips from our Sixth Form Mental Health Ambassadors. We also wanted to take the opportunity for our Wellbeing Team to respond to some of the comments submitted by students during World Mental Health Day last October.
Alongside mental health focussed assemblies, students across all year groups joined in an extended tutor period to look at their wellbeing. They explored their 'stress containers' and what can add to their stress, as well as what can be done to relieve some pressure.
They also looked at the 'Five ways to wellbeing' and what support is available to them both inside and outside school.
We also created our very first Wellbeing newsletter which was sent home to parents, and is also available to view on our Support for Parents page. We intend to make this newsletter a regular feature. Please feel free to let us know if there is anything particular you would like to see included in the future.
We held a mental health drop in session in the Sixth Form. Students were invited to give us their tips for looking after their minds and bodies.
All the suggestions were hung onto our 'Positivitree'. Members of our Mental Health and Wellbeing Team were on hand to answer questions and hand out resources for sources or support.
We also took the opportunity to hold student focus groups at each key stage looking at mental health. We plan to run regular mental health drop in sessions throughout the year, with the next session planned for the summer term.
