World Mental Health Day 2022
World Mental Health Day, Monday 10 October 2022
On Monday 10 October, for World Mental Health Day, staff and students took part in a number of activities aimed at positivity and mental wellbeing.
Sixth Form students and staff were asked to wear yellow as part of the Young Minds #HelloYellow initiative.
According to the latest NHS figures, nearly half a million young people are being referred for mental health problems every month, with many not being able to get the support they need. Waiting lists are getting longer and young people are being made to feel like their feelings don't matter. Like they don't matter. Wearing yellow is our way to show young people that how they feel matters!
Staff were invited to a wellbeing breakfast and free raffle, then all staff and students were invited to write a positive message to go onto our 'Positivi-tree'.
Lillie-Rose and Gene, the Mental Health link students from our Sixth Form Student Leadership Team, were not only on hand during the day, but also helped to put together this fantastic video which was shown to ALL students during tutor time. They will also be leading the new 'Talk Club' session on a Friday lunchtime, open for all years to drop by and chat to a Sixth Form student about any issues that they might be worried about.
